CLIA will host new-to-cruise workshops for its UK and Ireland travel agent members from next year, with the first taking place on 27 and 28 May.
The brand new workshops are part of a range of measures to support agents who may be selling cruise for the first time, it said.
CLIA has also launched a new online cruise guide, including explanations of cruise terminology, a list of ships on order and a list of ex-UK cruises for 2020, plus the main ports worldwide, closest attractions and key contacts at CLIA member cruise lines.
The announcement was made during the CLIA Cruise360 event in Valletta, Malta.
The workshops will take the form of ‘classroom style’ training, with practical advice given by experts within the industry.
There will also be speakers but the emphasis will be on training agents to feel confident and knowledgeable when selling cruise, said CLIA.
Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland director, added: “A key aim for CLIA is that agent members who are new to the cruise world feel supported and are given a comprehensive overview of the industry, from ocean and river, to luxury and expedition.
“These workshops will help to train agents in selling cruise and provide them with the necessary tools and information they need grow their cruise business with a newfound confidence.”
