A family has filed a lawsuit against Disney Cruise Line for medical negligence after a boy was attacked and injured by an anteater during a shore excursion.
The boy and his mother visited the National Aviary of Colombia during a port call in Cartagena last year where the boy was attacked.
The animal ‘was not properly sequestered from visitors’ attorneys said.
Back on the ship he sought medical attention but was not diagnosed or treated properly, the lawsuit claims.
That led to a severe mycobacterial infection, it says.
Magical Cruise Company and Vanter Cruise Health Services were named as defendants as providers of the medical personnel aboard the Disney Wonder.
The lawsuit is requesting a jury trial and is seeking damages in excess of $15,000.
