ABTA creates new director of industry relations role

Nikki White is to leave ABTA at the beginning of 2020, after serving 10 years as director of destinations and sustainability.

A direct replacement has not been made. Instead, ABTA has created a new role within its senior leadership team of director of industry relations.

The new role will be filled by Susan Deer, a senior solicitor in ABTA’s legal department.

She will be responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of ABTA’s health, safety, crisis and operations work, including sustainability.

She will also act as the principal relationship manager for ABTA’s FTO committees and members.

ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer said: “Nikki joined ABTA to establish the Destinations and Sustainability department, which she leaves in a strong and highly regarded position.

“Susan is admirably qualified for the position, having 16 years of tour operator experience, and ten years post-qualification experience as a solicitor, working on a wide range of tour operator-related issues.

“Susan has also worked closely with our public affairs team on a number of high profile industry issues, and that close collaboration will continue.

“Nikki will be handing over her current responsibilities to Susan between now and the end of this calendar year.”
